The 4 Best Rain Guards for Jeep Wrangler

Driving through rainy conditions in a Jeep can be annoying, water can sleep through or we can get a droplet to the head. How dare rain commit such audacious acts of disrespect? But, we have a plan – the rain must pay for its insolence. Rain guards, yes you heard right. We will fight against this injustice with guards.. for rain!

But seriously, rain guards can be a great addition to your Jeep if you like cruising with the windows down. Or if you live in an environment that has more condensation than my forehead when I see cheesecake. I love cheesecake.

Here are the 4 best rain guards for Jeep Wrangler JK available:

Auto Ventshade Rain Guard: 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK

side window rain guard for jeeps

Drive with your windows down even when it’s raining and pouring. The Ventshade rain guards will keep the moisture out. They’re made in the USA and you can count on their quality, backed by a lifetime warranty. It uses adhesion to stick in your windows channel. You’ve just got to pull off the tabs as you’re fitting it in there.

As with most rain guards, this is going to be quick and easy to install. A lot of guards stick to the frame of cars instead of inside the channel like this one, this method is more secure and the enclosed space inside your window channel means it’s “walled in” so it’s less likely to come loose.

As for the durability – it’s made of acrylic so the only really concern you’ll have is if they crack somehow. As long as you don’t come along and brute force it with a hammer these will last a long time.

What we like most about Auto Ventshade besides their warranty, is that they stand behind it. They’re a company known for great customer service.

Rugged Ridge Rain Guard: 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK

Rugged Ridge has a sleek matte black option for your Jeep. If you’re not a fan of glossier acrylic guards, it’s one of the best looking options available. These won’t reflect any shine that can make some acrylic guards look cheap – and we can see why some people prefer the look.

These rain guards come with a 5 year warranty. Which is a good amount of time, but a bummer compared to competitors lifetime warranties.

They come with a little strip of backing you pull off and then just pressure fit them for install.

We like how low the lip comes on this model, you wouldn’t even be able to tell if someone had the windows cracked unless you got up close. Drivers are often overjoyed at the functionality product, but it’s more than that. They look really good on a Jeep. It’s a nice aesthetic upgrade that takes no longer than fifteen minutes to install.

They are a bit more expensive than other options in their class, but if you dig the look it’s worth throwing a few extra bucks out for these.

Auto Dynasty Rain Guard: 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK

If you have a 2 door Jeep JK these rain guards are calling your name. They are installed differently than most, and are not an in-channel visor like our previous examples. We aren’t a huge fan of that because we feel in-channels tend to stick more snugly, but these are the most affordable 2 door option so that weighs into it. You just pull the tape off and they’re fitted to your Jeeps window profile.

If you’re looking to save some money, and want a rain guard that still looks good – take a shot on Auto Dynasty.

IKON Motorsports rain guard: 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK

The IKON Motorsports Rain Guards are the best budget option available. You won’t be spending much, and you’ll be spending almost half of what you would on similar setups. Yet you still get 4 acrylic guards to keep your Jeep rain free.

We don’t like that it’s only a 60 day warranty, and that’s our number one concern with the unit. But, they have plenty of happy customers who have vouched for the brand. They’re a stick on installation and not an in-channel option. So line them up and go to work. Even if you end up not liking these(which won’t happen), they were barely any money so you could rip them off without buyers remorse.

How to Install Rain Guards on your Jeep

  1. Grab a wrench.
  2. Set down the wrench because you won’t need it.
  3. Slide the rain guards into the grooves in your windows with the frame down. This install doesn’t require any tools – just pressure fit your new rain guards and you’re good to go.

Some guards require adhesive and it’s almost always included. Extreme Terrain has a great demo so you can see how easy it is to install their rain guards. It should take you about 15 minutes in total.

Conclusion

Our favorite option was the Rugged Ridge matte black, we like the look and while their warranty isn’t as strong as some, it wasn’t a deciding factor. If we didn’t want to spend a lot of money, Ikon Motorsports would be the clear choice. A nice option if you’re not too stuffy about warranties as it still looks great.

But, the most important thing is that all of these will keep you dry – while being able to enjoy that fresh rain air. Now put them to the test and let us know how it goes!
