Constructed from 28oz’s of sailcloth that creates a tight seal with your ride. You’ll get a decent noise reduction. All of the windows are tinted and can be removed to suit your needs.
It is considerably heavier than most soft tops available at nearly 60 pounds, which is to be expected with the 28oz fabric. If you cruise the highway frequently, any gaps can make these things flap like crazy. So proper installation is paramount.

The windows are removable as well. It comes in two options for colors: Black Diamond and Black Twill. It’s a water tight fit. You will have to put aside some time for installation as to be expected. It ranges from 2-5 hours for most.

The frameless Black Diamond is a great additioin to any TJ. It comes in 4 colors, and gives you the ability to fold back the sunroof to still enjoy the elements.
It does come at a price, owners love it but it is our most expensive choice in the category of TJ soft tops. While most available soft tops don’t have a warranty, you’ll get some peace of mind with a two-year limited.
The windows are tinted and removable and per the usual, it’s constructed from sailcloth. For install, it’s important to leave it out in the sun to let the parts expand. This can be installed by one person.
With a frameless design you won’t have a true convertible type top, but if you want something that looks great and shields you from the elements in your TJ, this is it.
2. Sierra Offroad Soft Top
Fit: 1997 – 2002 Jeep Wrangler TJ 2 Door
The Sierra Offroad top is the best value we could find for TJ owners. But, be certain it’s right for yours, it won’t fit models up from 2003 – 2006!
It comes in 3 colors, and is a fraction of the price of most options. You get a snug fit with tinted windows, but they are not removable. It has the best warranty we’ve seen, at 3 years.
One common issue is that over time the back window will get darker. So if you’re looking for a long term(3+ year option), then this is probably not the best choice for you.
3. Pavement Ends Soft Top
Fit: 1997 – 2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ 2 Door
Peel back the top on your TJ with the Pavement Ends by Bestop. A dark tint, with removable windows make this easy to open up in addition to the sun roof.
There is a 3 year limited warranty on this product, and it appears to hold up better than cheaper options in it’s class over time. It will give you an extremely tight fit, keeping the elements and noise out.
Install varies for most folks between 1 and 3 hours. Everything you need to put it together is included. You’ll use the factory header bar, door frames, and tailgate bar.
Make sure you have those parts on your Jeep before ordering. As is common with most owners, we can replace or lose parts over time. If that’s you, you’ll need to order them separately, they are a requirement.

The windows are tinted contrary to the photo. It comes with a 2 year limited warranty. Over time, this holds up pretty well. If you want some good bang for your buck, this is a solid choice.
Another neat inclusion to your purchase is a tonneau cover when you fold this down. For installation you should expect anywhere from 1 to 3 hours.
2. Whitco 35111135 Black Diamond

The Black Diamond top comes in three options that varies by color and fabric.
The rear windows are tinted and removable. In the front the windows are clear for visibility. You can fold them up if you’d like to enjoy the weather.
For its price point, it’s a really great value. Installation takes most folks from 11/2 hours to 3 hours for this model. If you have a full door on your YJ, this is not going to fit.
As always for install, make sure you do this on a warmer day to make it easier to stretch to fit.
3. Sierra Offroad Jeep Soft Top

The Sierra Offroad Soft Top is so affordable that it demands a look. It’s much cheaper than anything available.
If you’re looking for a budget soft top replacement, you will be hard pressed to beat this price.
Despite it being so affordable, customers are pretty happy overall with this product. You might associate affordable with cheap, but in this case that doesn’t hold water.
Speaking of water, it won’t get in. This is a tight seal stretch to fit. The windows are tinted. As you can imagine, the most common thought of customers is that they’re surprised it exists at this price point.
This is the best bang for the buck for YJs.
Why do I need to leave my soft top out in warmer weather?
The reason this is recommended is because if you want a tight fit, the heat will give you more stretch during installation.
