The 4 Best Truck Tents for F150

Taking your F150 on an adventure is possible. It doesn’t just have to be a workhorse, it can also be a fun ..horse?

You catch our drift, getting a truck tent turns your truck bed into a bed bed where you and a loved one(your smartphone) can relax in peace.

So, whether you plan on stargazing or making smores you’ll be happy to know that there are several affordable options to choose from.

Let’s take a look at the 4 best truck tents for F150s

1. Guide Gear Full Size Truck Tent

Guide Gear really grinds the goodies out with this great getup.

Their truck tent slays the competitors with a defining asset! It’s price! That’s right, this thing is a bargain.

If you’re not too sure about this whole truck camping thing but want to give it a shot, you can grab this and have money leftover.

This even has windows if you want to wave to the neighbors in the morning. It’s a universal design and you’ll strap it in place, with fiberglass poles for structure. This is made from polyester and is water-resistant.

By the way, if you’re going out in cold weather make sure you get a little space heater for yourself. Unless you have one of those big fancy sleeping bags.

2. Napier Backroadz Truck Tent

Napier is all over this truck tent game. They have several models and styles, and since they didn’t name it we’re going to call this the “turtle shell”.

The turtle shell is a great choice for those of you looking for some extra headroom. It’s surprisingly spacious with 5.6′ of headroom.

They have a drop-down menu for you to select the length of your truck bed, and the price will go up depending on how much fabric they need.

Alright, so what’s cool about this?

Well it offers a floor, and a lot the other brands omit that option. If you want to lay a mattress down and don’t want it getting messy then that could be a deciding factor! This isn’t as affordable as the Guide Gear option of course, but it does offer some more room.

3. Kodiak Canvas Truck Bed Tent

The Kodiak Canvas truck bed tent is the big kahuna of this category.

All the others are those chain restaurants, and Kodiak is the homegrown beef you get to throw on your fancy grill.

Was that analogy terrible? Not as terrible as you’ll feel when you see someone roll up in this compared to your puny polyester tent!

But really, this thing is waterproof when others can claim water-resistant. And the fabric is the main difference, 100% cotton canvas. As you can probably tell just by looking at the picture, it’s a higher quality than what you’ll get in other designs.

That’s why it costs a bit more. They also have a steel tube frame for this. This particular model is made for an 8ft bed. Why don’t they just have a drop down so you can find one for your truck bed? Because life is an adventure, and they want to frustrate you.

But we don’t, we’re your friend. So here’s the 5-6ft bed version

4. Napier Backroadz Truck Tent

The Napier Backroadsz line was so nice they got featured twice.

Their large mesh windows offer “optimal ventilation” in this design according to their sales copy.

We’re convinced, if you’d like to optimally ventilate then this has that available. Your lungs will thank you.

After a night of cooking beans on your little portable stove, that might be something very important to all parties in the tent. What we like about this most however, is an obscure feature. It has a lantern holder.

If you like to stay up in the middle of night reading scary stories in your tent, this lantern will really set the mood. And that’s the only reason we added this to our guide.

Enjoy.

FAQS

Is there any other portable camping gear you’d recommend for my truck?

These are the things we would bring so this answer is as biased as any could be. With that said; a grill, hammock, and a chair. Because the last thing anyone wants to do when they’re relaxing is move.

Unless you found a good fishing spot or something like that! This hammock is cool because it folds around you in a cocoon. Speaking of cocoons, something you don’t want latched to your skin during your adventure is some random insect. So grab yourself bug spray while you’re at it.

How am I supposed to sleep on my hard truck bed?

Simple my friend! Just go out and grab an affordable inflatable mattress. That’s the cheap way to go. Or if you camp frequently you can look into getting a mini regular mattress made for truck beds.

This is our favorite bargain buy.

Conclusion

Hopefully, our guide has helped you make up your mind about what camping setup you need for your F150. There are plenty of great choices here and they’re all pretty good prices considering what you get.

When you go camping make sure you bring everything to make you comfortable, and the one thing that most of these lack is a proper mattress. There are some affordable options for those too.

We like the Guide Gear camping tent. It’s affordable and will keep you cozy. On the higher end we think the Kodiak Canvas tent is awesome.

But whatever you end up choosing, let us know how it worked out. We love hearing from our readers and thanks for stoppin by!
